Dr. Ekou Justine

Introduction

Fascioliasis, caused by Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica, is a parasitic liver infection affecting millions of cattle and sheep worldwide. In Uganda, the disease has significant economic impacts, with losses recorded at Kampala City Abattoir amounting to USD 92.5 million annually. Medicinal plants offer a promising, inexpensive alternative to commercial drugs. This project aims to determine the efficacy of selected herbal plant extracts against liver flukes in cattle, providing a sustainable solution for rural farmers.
